Day 2 Tue 08-Feb-05 (B, L, )
Guilin / Yangshuo
Today you will make a full day Li River Cruise to Yangshuo (Lunch included). After the cruise, our local guide will take you to the Xia Village, Fuli Town. Today you will have the opportunity to experience a traditional Chinese New Years Eve in a Chinese family.. Before the New Year's Eve Dinner starts the members of Mo's family will preparation as has been the custome for centuries: For example traditional cleaning, changing to traditional costumes, making paintings on the door and, of course, preparing doing lots of delicious dishes. You are welcome to participate in these activities that will help you to get into the spirit of Chinese New Year. After dinner, you will be transferred back to Yangshuo.
- Li River Cruise: Depart from your hotel in the morning. Transferring to the Zhujiang Pier(about 1 hour drive)for a 4.5 hours wonderful cruise. You will enjoy the picturesque mountains, peaceful green fields, farms and villages with water buffalos & cows wondering around on both sides of the river bank. Disembark at the one-thousand-year-old town Yangshuo in the afternoon.
-Xia Village: The Village lies northeast of Yangshuo, about 10 minutes drive. There are 100 families living in this village. They all have the same Surname, "Mo".
-The Mo family you will visit: Consists of 7 members: Parents, 2 boys and 3 daughters. 5 of the family members will spend the New Year Eve together with you: the parents, two sons and one daughter-in-law. One of the sons works in China Highlights Travel. He and his families are very happy to welcome you during this time to celebrate this very important festival.
Day 3 Wed 09-Feb-05 (B, L, )
Yangshuo / Guilin
Get up at about 07:30 am. After breakfast in your hotel, you will be transferred back to Xia Village. You will arrive just in time to participate in another highlight of Chinese New Year: First, you will be transferred to Mo's family to say "Good Words" to each other and wish each other a good beginning of the new year. We, Chinese have a traditional habit to give Good Luck Money in red paper bag to each other (China Highlights Travel will prepare all this for you). At about 09:00am , "Dragon Groups" will knock at each family's door and say good words. The family who receive such knocks will immediately burn fireworks to welcome such good luck. Afterwards the "Dragon Group" will stay at your family. Now you can choose to stay in Mo's family or just follow the "Dragon Group" to other families. Later the day you will be transferred back to Guilin to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Two Lakes and Four Rivers.
-Two Lakes and Four Rivers:It is a new program: In the year of 2002, a project aimed to link the four lakes Guihu Lake, Ronghu Lake(Banyan Lake), Shanhu Lake(Fir Lake), Mulong Lake and the two rivers Li River, Taohua River(Peach-blossom River) together was completed and formed a round-the-city waterway. Tourists can take boat trips on the water around the city. This brand new water entertainment will surely add charm to your stay in Guilin.
Day 4 Thu 10-Feb-05 (B, L, )
Guilin / Hong Kong
Transfer via: Flight CZ3031 (1840-2000) - Our arrangements
The day starts with a half-day tour to the Elephant Trunk Hill, Fubo Hill and Reed Flute Cave. The rest of the day can be spent shopping or sight seeing on your own, before you leave for your flight to Hong Kong.
-Elephant Trunk Hill: Located at the conjunction of the Li River & the Peach Blossom River, the whole hill looks very much like a giant elephant with a long trunk, it is the symbol of Guilin City.
-Fubo Hill: You can see lots of rock stone carvings & Buddha statues since Tang Dynasty. Have a wonderful bird's-eye view of Guilin city if you climb to the summit.
-Reed Flute Cave: Known as "the Palace of Natural Arts" where you can see beautiful stalactites & stalagmites, learn how they are formed.
