Hor Sutra Stone Walls
On the hill behind the Hor Monastery in Zekog County, Huangnan stand four large stone sutra walls. Known as the Hor Sutra Stone Walls, they are the largest of their kind in China. It is said that the carving work started in 1923 and the work was completed by 1951.
Credit should go to a stone carving master known as Gonpo Tseten, who has devoted all his energy to carving the stones. The carving of every scripture cost him nearly 20 years. Now he is already 72. With great piety, he spends all day carving Buddhist scriptures on stone. His performance demonstrates the great power of faith.
