Anshun Huachang (Anshun Huachang)
Anshun Huachang (Anshun Huachang)

Celebration activities in three successive days taken in the western suburb of the city of Anshun from the 7th day to the 9th day of the first lunar month. On the first day the elders of the village in charge get the flower tree planted. On the second day, young men of the Miao ethnic group in embroidered costume made by their mothers, sisters or girlfriends come to the foot of the mountain where the flower tree is planted. They climb to the flower tree on the top of the mountain, blowing the lusheng pipes and dancing all the way along. People attending the activities can be as many as twenty or thirty thousands. On the third day the activities come to an end when the appointed family carry the flower tree home, beating drums and letting off firecrackers in hope of continuing the family line and being as lucky as desired.
