Introduction
As one of the best classical gardens in Suzhou city and known as a "kingdom of artificial mountains", the Lion Grove Garden was built by the disciples of the famous Buddhist monk Tian Ru, in 1342the second year of the Zhizheng Reign of the Yuan Dynasty. It was a temple garden in its early days. The entire garden is laid out according to a compact design, with artificial mountains piled up in the southeast and a water surface the northwest. The Lion Grove Garden is famous for its many rocks grotesque in shapes resembling lions. |
