From 1982 to 1996, the Chinese government approved historical and cultural cities in three batches. In batch I, Beijing, Nanjing, Xi'an... 24 cities were listed. In batch II, we find Tianjin, Shenyang, Shanghai..., while in the batch III, Qingdao, Xianyang, Harbin...37 cities join in the group. So far in China there are 99 historical and cultural cities listed. |
