As early as the Shang Dynasty(17th Century B.C.-11th Century B.C.),China showed surprising achievements in bronze metallurgy, and many impressive pieces dating from that period remain unrivaled in the history of metalware. The development of metalware at different historical stages is best represented by the gold and silver wares of the Warring States Period(475B.C.-221 B.C.), the jewelry and copper mirrors of the Tang Dynasty(618-907), and the enamel of the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644). Modern Chinese metalware primarily includes enamel, gold and silver wares, jewelry, and cooper and tin objects. In contemporary
