Natural Scenic Spot-Jingbo Lake

China tour,Jingbo Lake,china tours,orientaldiscovery, china highlights
Jingbo Lake lies in Yongan County in Heilongjiang Province.

It is said that the Jingbo Lake was grown from the magic mirror of the beautiful fairy Hongluonii who often used the magic light of her mirror to get rid of illness and difficulties for the people who lived in that area. Later, when Hongluon strove to retrieve the mirror from the Queen Mother of the West who had stolen the mirror, it unexpectedly fell to the ground and became a beautiful lake. Jingbo Lake is a lake blocked in by lava. It is 60 meters deep, 45 kilometers long and 6 kilometers wide with the total area of 95 square kilometers.

Jingbo Lake is famous for its natural scenery: a mirror-like surface of blue water surroundecl by towering green trees.  Scenic spots on the lake are Baishilazi, the Great Gushan Hill, the Little Gushan Hill, the Pearl Gate, and the Gem Gate, etc.

The Great Gushan Hill, a granite stone hill, rises up in the center of the lake. It is named for its towering appearance with a height of over 150 meters. Little Gushan Hill is a series of reefs in the lake.

The Daoshi Hill, with stretching range and verdant trees, lies in the lake southwest to the Pearl Gate. Its name comes from the Sanqing Temple built in the period of Emperor Xianfeng of the Qing Dynasty. Facing the Daoshi Hill on the lake bank is a hill whose ridge is divided into nine parts and extends to the lake. Each ridge is closely linked with the Daoshi Hill, so people call this view Jiulongxizhu (nine dragons playing with one pearl).

Lying on the bank southwest of Little Gushan Hill, Chengqianglazi(City Wall Crag) has vestiges of an ancient city wall. According to the textual research of the experts, it was the city wall of an old city of the Tang Dynasty, built when massive forces stationed there to guard the lake. It has maintained its original appearance through wind and rain of more than 1,000 years.

The solidified lava which forms the lake bank has many cracks and breaches through which lake water flows downward and forms waterfalls. The Diaoshuilou waterfall of Jingbo Lake is 20 meters high, 40 meters wide. Lake water rushing down from the cliff with splashing water drops and thunder-like sound provides a grand spectacle.
