Zheng Music: Singing on the Returning Fishing Boats |
| Singing on the Returning Fishing Boats is an influential and popular piece of Zheng music. The title derived from the famous words from The Preface to Teng Wang Pavilion by Wang Bo, a famous poet of the Tang Dy-nasty. It has two parts. The first part, rich in beautiful melodies, is played lento to reveal the peacefulness. Then at the beginning of the second part, there appear changing rhythms, and played allegro with lively rhythms and pleasant emotions, the melody is developing vividly, describing the sounds of swinging boats, sculling, and drifting and swirling river spray. As a descrip-tion of the natural beauty of lakes and mountains, the music makes the best of the fluctuation of melody. Fully revealing the rolling style of Pipa playing, the music highly arts up the delightful feeling of the fishermen and the happy return of hundreds of fishing boats. |
