Guangdong Music: Raindrops Rattling on the Banana Leaves |
| Raindrops Rattling on the Banana Leaves is one of the early excellent Guangdong Music. With a sprightly rhythm, it reveals the pleasure of the people living in south China. By using many playing skills, such as trill, it de-scribes the sound of the rain rattling on the banana leaves, the dancing of the leaves, and people's pleasure in the rain after a long drought. The whole mu-sic is divided into two parts, each having its distinctive rhythm to show the different artistic conceptions. The first part is composed of three musical peri-0ds, and, with beautiful and lyric rhythm, it reveals the poetic landscape of the south of the Five Ridges. Compared with the first part, on the other hand, the second part is composed with irregular music periods, suggestive of the pace of the falling rain. |
