2.2 Nšč Wa Created Humans |
The story is recorded in A General Collection of Folk Tales quoted in Volume 78 of Tai Ping Yu Lan. Once upon a time, there were no human beings. Nil Wa molded the yel-low clay into human figures and gave them lives. She put ropes into the clay and then held the ropes high to let the clay drop, and the dropped clay changed into human beings. So, it was said that the rich and noble people were created out of the yellow clay figures, while the poor and humble ones were created out of the clay off the rope.
