2.5 ding Wei Attempted to Fill up the Sea

Jing Wei is the name of a bird in the ancient Chinese legends, its folk name is Di Bird, meaning a bird of the God. The story is recorded in Shah Hai Jing.
"In the Fa Jiu Mountains there was a thick forest. In the forest there was a strahge bird. Her figure was like a turtle. She had on her head a striped pat-tern, and white break and red claws. Her cry was very pleasant. Originally she was the daughter of Yan Wang, one of the earliest kings in ancient Chi-nese legends. Her name was Nti Wa. Once when she swam in the sea she drowned and changed into a bird named Jing Wei. Jing Wei often held in her mouth woods or rocks from the West Mountains and when she flew above the East Sea she dropped them into it because she believed she could fill the sea up by doing so."
