Batik (art of wax-printing) Guizhou is famous for its Batik Art in China as well as over the world, the colorful costumes of the ethnic groups demonstrate not only exquisite embroidery but also batik in terms of workmanship and patterns, with excellent wax-printing skills. Wax-printing is traditional folk art here and has a history of over 2000 years in China. Such skill is still fashionable in Guizhou which abounds in bee wax and indigo. The local Buyi and Miao women have excellent wax-printing skills and begin studying the art as children. They draw simple but elegant picture on cloth with wax knives. Wax printing products processed by hand in the wax printing factories in Anshun are popular and sold both at home and abroad.

Maotai Liquor | Maotai Liquor Maotai is the national liquor in China, and one of the most famous liquors in the world, along the Scottish Whisky, French Brandy and Russian Vodka. Maotai was named for the town of Maotai near the Chishui River in Guizhou Province, where the liquor was first distilled.
Maotai liquor is older than the town of Maotai, this liqour was already being about 800 years old till Song Dynasty according to a Song Dynasty book about liqour. Its distilleries introduced Maotai to the outside world for the first time at 1915 Panama World Fair, which Maotai got the Gold Medal for its best quality and unique flavor, since then the liqour has enjoyed a good reputation worldwide.
As a Chinese proverb goes, the place of Maotai is beautiful and so the people are outstanding, with charming natural scenery and pleasant weather all year round. The Chishui River winds its way through the valleys around the township, it provides a steady source of pure water for the liquors. So Maotai has a special flavor and unique aroma owing to the special natural conditions, pure water and special earth with unique cave along the river. |
