The Xishuangbanna tropical rainforest is situated ill the valley of the Lancang River in southern Yunnan. Blessed by advantageous climatic conditions, it nurtures a myriad of species and is dubbed "wildlife kingdom." The brown woolly fig (ficus drupacea)grows everywhere in the forest, its trunk so huge it takes over a dozen people with outstretched arms to encircle it.
