(2) Memorial Pavilions
Memorial pavilions are discussed in other sections However, it is worth stating that in recent years, each province has made donations to renovate the Great Wa and thereafter put up pavilions and tablets f0 commemoration.
For example, the Guizhou Pavilion Housing A Tablet at the Badaling Great Wall is typical of Guizhou design The four pillars of the pavilion are covered with re granite, on which rest two crossbeams covered with gray=ish-white granite;two big plates on the roof of the pavilion are placed crisscross on the beams. This unique design, resembling the temporary work sheds built by the "Guizhou Camp" builders when constructing the Great Wall, is inelegant but stable. It complements the tremendous momentum of the Great Wall. In the pavilion, there stands a tablet made of black jade and marble with
an eight-character inscription: "Love our Chinese nation, repair our Great Wall." The rear and side faces of the tablet are carved with depictions of the patriotism of the people of Guizhou in their contributions to renovate the Great Wall. Beside the pavilion is a distinctive oval- Shaped bench
